The Queensland Government has announced its economic recovery plan to support Townsville and the surrounding regions.

The plan formulated as part of the Government’s Unite & Recover strategy aims to provide the region with economic support as it rebuilds from COVID-19.

Key announcements outlined in the plan include:

  • Financial support for Mount Isa Mines copper processing operations
  • $30 million for Big Rocks Weir
  • $19 million for riverway drive upgrades
  • $2 million to support development of Townsville’s autonomous testing facility
