The Retirement Living Council presents this important report and commend it to industry, consumers and governments around Australia: Shared Care.
‘Shared care’ provides three models for retirement village operators to deliver community-based care services under the Support at Home program within the village setting, either independently or through a delivery partner.
The Retirement Living Council, together with its members, has developed these models, showing that significant efficiencies and savings to consumers and government can be achieved, even at moderate levels of uptake.
This is because retirement villages provide scale for delivering these services efficiently and cost effectively by reducing travel costs incurred by service providers, increasing the frequency of service delivery, and enhancing the quality and suite of services by leveraging those already in place at these communities.
Our sector is already providing community-based care for residents at all stages of their care journey.
However, we can and want to do more to ensure that older Australians are living independently for as long as possible by consolidating their home-based care to return a better service to them as consumers and reduced costs for government.
Accessing the report
Shared Care is available to Retirement Living Council and Property Council members only, through their online membership portal.
Members, follow these steps to access a copy of the report:
- Go to the Property Council website > propertycouncil.com.au
- Select the profile icon in the top-right corner to login
- Enter your email address and password to login
a. If you can’t remember your password, select ‘Forgot password’ to reset.
b. If you don’t have a profile, select ‘Join’. This will take you through the steps of creating a profile which will link to your company/organisation. - Once logged in, select ‘Downloads’ from the menu on the left
- Select ‘Download File’ under ‘Company downloads’ to download the report
By downloading the report, members agree to not distribute outside of their organisation.
