On chooks’ teeth
Last week I spoke at the National Press Club.
A rare honour. To spend 15 minutes on national TV championing the ways to unlock housing supply: for twenty years the untried solution to our deepening housing crisis.
I also highlighted our industry’s unique role in improving our cities and the rest is here.
My final call to action is the Property Council’s top priority in 2024 –
“the paramount idea I leave with you is the grand housing partnership that needs state parliaments to publicly and urgently commit their treasuries and their planning systems to deliver better supply and choice of housing to a changing and ageing population at a scale and an affordability level that we have failed to manage in the recent past.”
IWD, strength to strength
We hosted terrific International Women’s Day events across the country last week (see pictures below). Lots for the Property Champions of Change, of whom I am proudly one, to work on in the year ahead.
One of the key takes outs among the 1,800 people at the events I attended was tackling the tough spots in the industry, women in capital transactions, leasing, construction and industrial property. Noting that of the 1.4 million people in property, still only 26 per cent are women. Much to do.
Book Congress Townsville 23-25 October
It’s going to be a classic Congress. Super early bird till end of April.
Lots from our industry leaders. Lots on emerging trends. Lots of inspiration.
Held the week before a tight Queensland state election, and in the shadow of the United States’ Presidential election, the Townsville Congress is a unique chance to hear from pioneers, politicians and experts on what is next for the world, Australia and most importantly for our industry.
