Tim Weston, the CEO of Student One and stalwart of the PBSA sector, recently announced his official retirement. Tim has been a giant of the PBSA industry since he was involved in the inception and start-up of Campus Living Villages in 2002, building and managing their first property, Sydney University Village.

More recently Tim was the CEO or Student One – one of the original PBSA operators in Brisbane with 2,300 beds across three buildings in the heart of the CBD. During his tenure, Tim played a pivotal role in establishing Student One as a market leader in student accommodation, offering state-of-the-art facilities and unparalleled student experiences.

Anyone who has met Tim understands his passion for the sector and his drive to see the industry reach maturation. Tim was dogged in defending the sector from unfair taxes and ensuring students in Brisbane had safe, professionally managed and vibrant places to live. Despite the challenges of building and managing assets during Covid, Student One was a success and recently sold to Blackstone.

Tim was an inaugural member of the Student Accommodation Council where his sage advice, sharp wit and wealth of knowledge was always timely and welcome. Tim hosted numerous site-tours of his assets and was always on hand to brief government about the complexities of the sector.

The members of the Student Accommodation Council thank Tim and wish him all the best as he spends time with his wife Carole, grandkids, and enjoys some extra time on the golf course.
