Property Council WA comments on new R-Codes
Comments attributable to Emily Young, Interim Executive Director, Property Council WA:
“These pragmatic revisions to the R-codes ensure WA’s planning system strikes the right balance of preserving quality design standards of new homes without jeopardising the financial feasibility of building them.”
“Medium density supports the housing diversity needed to ensure established suburbs can continue to support families and communities as they expand and evolve.
“We want our children and grandchildren to have the same access to the suburbs they grew up in, but this requires the creation of diverse and affordable housing options.
“The R-code revision will also complement the WA Government’s streamlining of development application processes, which came into effect earlier this month, in helping the state build more homes faster.
“Continuous monitoring of the code’s implementation will ensure that risks to the pipeline of new homes are identified as the changes take effect.”
