Property Council invites media to hear direct from industry on impact of construction sector shortages

According to data released in the December Infrastructure Market Capacity report, Australia’s major infrastructure pipeline stands at $230 billion over five years – however, skills shortages and high costs of materials are just some of the factors that threaten the construction industry’s ability to deliver on these projects. It is estimated that, in order to meet demand, our labour supply alone will need to grow by 127 per cent.

This Wednesday 20 March, Property Council of Australia will hold its ‘Mastering the build: Industry shortages and solutions’ lunch in Sydney. The event brings together a panel of industry experts who will discuss the challenges posed by the current economic landscape and share their experience of its impact on on-the-ground operations – and well as their thoughts on potential solutions.

NSW Building Commissioner David Chandler OAM will be in attendance to speak at the event.

Media is invited to attend the lunch on Wednesday, with attendees given the opportunity to hear directly from:

  • Emily Dabbs, Head of Macro Consulting Australia at Oxford Economics Australia
  • David Chandler OAM, NSW Building Commissioner
  • Helga Maynier, Director and National Head of Quantity Surveying, MBMpl Pty Ltd
  • James Barta, Directors of National Operations, Built
  • Sarah Kay, Director at Woods Bagot
  • Stace Fishwick, Executive Director of Commercial Development & Management at Property & Development NSW.

The ‘Mastering the build’ lunch will be held 12-2pm Wed 20 March at Fullerton Hotel Sydney.

To register your attendance or for any further information, get in touch with Kirsty Sier by 10am on 20 March.
