Be the first to access the results from ground-breaking new research into the all-important question of community attitudes to density. With Western Australia’s population set to more than double in the next 50 years, the case for change needs to be made, and it needs to be made now. New thought leadership to build community understanding and acceptance of density, and its benefits, is urgently required.

Building on last year’s hugely successful Great Cities report, which found that “Australia is accidentally pursuing a low amenity and low liveability model” and that “the housing affordability crisis is corrupting the Australian dream”, the Property Council’s WA Division is now addressing a major barrier to amenity and affordability by taking forward the density debate. The research to be unveiled at this event not only unpicks the problem but provides a solution. Commissioned exclusively for the Property Council, it identifies the optimal strategies and actions to garner community support for urban density.

It sets out the arguments, outlines how they should be made and who is most receptive to them. This game-changing paper debunks the myths that have made ‘density’ a dirty word, turning the focus to diversity and empowering the public with housing choices that enable shorter commutes and more vibrant communities. It reframes one of the toughest issues currently facing industry and shows how, working with government, we can create a positive housing future and help maximise the benefits of city-shaping initiatives like Perth and Peel @ 3.5 million and METRONET.

Come along to see what the new Australian dream will be, and why it takes a village to deliver.
