Peter Achterstraat AM, since becoming the NSW Productivity Commissioner, has released a landmark discussion paper, titled “Kickstarting the Productivity Conversation”. This issues paper explored a range of issues across many sectors that were serving as handbrakes on our State’s economy.
The next step of this process will a series of green/white papers that will being major productivity reforms, including opportunities to deliver major planning and taxation improvements. During 2019 he also reviewed the Independent Planning Commission (IPC) that led to significant changes to the way it operated and its decision-making functions.
Last month Mr Archerstraat was given responsibility to undertake a comprehensive review of the NSW development contributions system and he is expected to report back to the Government before the end of the year.
