As the regional capital of the Illawarra, the city of Wollongong plays a vital role in driving the economic growth for the region, providing jobs for our local people and important transport connections to Greater Sydney.
As the city continues to grow and prosper, support from government and the seamless integration of priorities and commitments at local, state and federal government levels is essential.
Following the announcement of various city deals across the nation and local momentum around a city deal for Wollongong, where should we go from here and is a city deal on the cards for us?
Geoff Roberts AM, Chief Coordinator for the Western Sydney Deal, Deputy Chief Commissioner and Economic Commissioner for the Greater Sydney Commission will join us to discuss what we can learn from other city deals already in place including Western Sydney, the process of setting up city deals and lessons learnt.
Geoff will be joined by the General Manager of Campbelltown City Council, Lindy Deitz, the General Manager of Wollongong City Council, Greg Doyle and CEO of RDA Illawarra, Debra Murphy to discuss the opportunity and challenges ahead for our region and what a city deal for Wollongong could mean for us.
