Joel serves as the General Manager of Property at Essendon Fields, a prominent mixed-use commercial precinct encompassing various industries and housing Melbourne’s inaugural airport. The site is one of Melbourne’s most diverse master-planned business communities, home to an extraordinary blend of onsite airport, commercial assets, retail centres, automotive dealerships, entertainment, hotel and event facilities.
Joel and the EF team are personally invested in creating operational efficiency for users and activating public spaces for the benefit of all community members. Over the last 12 months the site has experienced rapid growth, with over $50 million in projects under construction across a range of asset types. New developments are being delivered alongside a continued investment in sustainability and site activation. Recent initiatives include the commissioning of a major public sculpture by Eolo Paul Bottaro, converting car park and streetlights across the site to energy efficient LEDs, and upgrading all casual parking machines to paperless and pay-by-phone based systems.
Additionally, Joel is a great contributor to the Property Council of Australia’s Victorian Future Directions Committee having recently hosted a tour of the Essendon Fields precinct for the rest of the committee.
Joel has also held positions on several Non-Profit Boards and is passionate about promoting best practices in the commercial property sector. Joel frequently delivers presentations and conducts training conferences for various commercial property entities such as First National Commercial Real Estate & The Australian Academy of Property.
