Victoria’s Future Industries – Construction Technologies SubmissionThe Property Council has submitted to the Government around issues concerning the future of Victoria's construction technologies industry.Our response to the Government's discussion paper recognises the productivity potential of building information modelling (BIM), but notes that its use by industry remains relatively immature. Greater adoption will depend on BIM's ability to deliver better outcomes whilst meeting client and user expectations. Whilst we support government efforts to promote the transition to BIM through education and training, the Property Council is opposed to the mandatory use of BIM on public sector projects, due to concerns that it could add significant costs which will be passed on to the end user.
