Vegetation Management Submission

Home Campaigns and Submissions Vegetation Management Submission

Vegetation Management SubmissionThe Property Council has provided a submission to the Agriculture and Environment Committee's investigation of the Government's amendments to the State's vegetation management framework. While aimed at curtailing agricultural clearing, the new requirements and prohibitions on landowners will have an inadvertent impact on the viability of development in urban areas. The proposed amendments go well beyond reversing the changes introduced by the LNP Government by increasing environmental offset requirements and retrospectively reclassifying land categories. The submission provides an overview of the current and future impact of these amendments on urban development.Given the nature of the Queensland Parliament, the passage of this legislation is not guaranteed. The Property Council will continue to work with the Committee, and all Members of Parliament, to ensure an appropriate balance is achieved in the State's vegetation management laws.
