The Property Council welcomes the opportunity to provide ongoing feedback in the development of the Medium Density Code (MD Code) and supports the intention of the MD Code as a tool to support the delivery of greater housing diversity, provide choice, support tree canopy retention, and respond to a variety of lifestyles, life stages and income levels.
The Property Council acknowledges that the development of the MD Code has benefitted from extensive industry consultation and testing.
Implementing significant reform is a challenging task, particularly in an environment where labour and supply costs are highly volatile and adversely impacting the delivery of housing.
The most significant challenge for the planning reform agenda and the implementation of the MD code is the need to balance reform objectives against the cost implications of change.
