The Property Council supports the proposed changes outlined in Draft Local Planning Scheme Amendment Regulations No.3 which provides that approvals for single houses must be assessed by an authorised employee of the local government.
The Property Council has previously advocated for improvement to the planning system that professionalises decision making by removing elected officials from the development approval process.
Whilst the Property Council is supportive of the proposed Amendments, it believes reducing the assessment timeline would be beneficial to further streamline the approval process.
The current timeframe for a local government authority to determine non-advertised applications
is 60 days. The Property Council recommends that this timeline be reduced to 30 days, noting that
this will expedite the delivery of crucial housing across Perth.
