Industry responds to Cross River Rail changes

The Property Council has provided a submission on the Queensland Government's Request for Project Change on the Cross River Rail project, focusing on the project's impacts on property, as well as opportunities to work with land owners to secure enhanced outcomes.

The submission called on the Government to:

  • Provide a higher level of transparency via the disclosure of feasibility studies, business cases, and potential impacts on affected stakeholders, such as property owners.
  • Avoid utilising 'value capture' levies, or any other form of new tax, to contribute towards financing the project.
  • Increase certainty around resumptions for the projects, including outlining what land will be required, and the timing for when this may occur.
