Coastal Protection and Management RegulationWith the Coastal Protection and Management Regulation 2003 set to expire in August, the Property Council has queried whether the regulation should be remade in its current form. The Regulation supports the Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995 and provides development assessment trigger maps and assessment codes for the Integrated Development Assessment System under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009.While the Government is proposing to remake the regulation as it is currently written with only minor amendments and updates, the Property Council has questioned the need to retain a separate regulation for coastal matters. The Property Council contends that the existing planning framework should contain all matters associated with the State's involvement in planning and development assessment, and has recommended the regulation's merger into the integrated planning framework.
