New research released by the Property Council of Australia shows South East Queensland will need at least 20 new hospitals by 2046 to meet population demands.
The ‘Building a healthy region’ report shows that South East Queensland will require approximately:
- 11 new public hospitals
- 17 new private hospitals
- 27 additional day hospitals
- 11 additional residential mental health care facilities
- 70 to 80 new medical centres
These figures include projects that are planned but not yet delivered.
The report draws five key recommendations to help support South East Queensland’s growing population.
