New analysis shows NSW is investing the largest amount of their total budget into public infrastructure, in comparison to all other states.
Infrastructure Partnerships Australia has released the 2017/18 Australian Infrastructure Budget Monitor, analysing and comparing Australian infrastructure funding levels as a share of each government’s total budget expenditure.
More than $49.6 billion will be invested into NSW roads, rail and social projects over 2017/18; amounting to 14.3% of the total State Budget.
The investment into infrastructure over 2017/18 includes close to $1 billion towards WestConnex, $4.9 billion for the Sydney Metro City and South West rail project, and $720 million committed to the Prince of Wales Hospital Reconfiguration and Expansion project.
Other major investments around the country include $3.7 billion committed over four years to Western Australia’s road infrastructure, $1.95 billion towards Queensland’s procurement of the Cross River Rail project, and $920 million for Victoria’s Regional Rail Revival package.
