The Property Council has provided feedback to government on the Revenue Legislation Amendment Bill 2024

On Thursday 23 January Queensland Property Council Executive Director Jess Caire and Deputy Executive Director Allan McNeil spoke at the Parliamentary committee hearing on the Revenue Legislation Amendment Bill 2024.

The Bill was introduced to Parliament on 12 December 2024 and the Property Council made a submission welcoming the Bill, including abolishment of stamp duty for first home buyers and changes to allow first home buyers to rent out a room.

While our submission welcomed the changes within the Bill, it also encouraged the government to review the impact of how AFAD and FLTS are applied to Australian-based businesses, which penalise local developers who leverage international capital.
