
The Queensland Government has released the Delivering 2032 and Beyond Plan, a new plan for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games venues and infrastructure.
The plan follows the delivery of the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority’s (GIICA) review on Olympic venues and infrastructure.
The key announcements as part of the Government’s response include:
- Victoria Park has been confirmed as the site of a new 63,000 seat stadium
- A new National Aquatic Centre will be developed at the Centenary Pool at Spring Hill
- The athlete village will be delivered at the Brisbane Showgrounds along with a 20,000 seat arena
- A Gold Coast athlete village is set to be located within the Royal Pines Resort development
- The Sunshine Coast athlete village will be located within the Maroochydore City Centre
- A direct rail line will link Beerwah to Birtinya, linking to a metro hub that connects to the Sunshine Coast Airport through Maroochydore
The government has also indicated that they will commence a Market Led Proposal process to engage the private sector to deliver Brisbane Live at the former Go Print site at Woolloongabba.
