Last week Brisbane City Council released its Short-Stay Accommodation Taskforce Report.
Short-stay accommodation is regulated entirely through the Planning Act 2016 and in Brisbane through the City Plan 2014, both are limited to imposing requirements on the land use only.Â
The report found the most frequent suburbs offering short-stay accommodation and impacting neighbours were Brisbane City, South Brisbane, New Farm, Teneriffe, West End, Fortitude Valley and Bowen Hills.
According to the report Brisbane had 3,497 listings for short-stay accommodation with 77 per cent being for whole homes or apartments.
The report includes a number of recommendations, including the introduction of a permitting system for short-stay accommodation providers and a renewed push to increase housing and hotel room supply in Brisbane.
The report can be read in full on Council’s website.
