On 21 August the 2024 RLB State and Territory Development of the Year winners were announced and The Salvation Army’s Affordable Housing Complex in Chermside took the top prize in Queensland.
The four level, 26 unit Affordable Housing Complex that blends community minded design with well-located amenities was named the 2024 Queensland Development of the Year.
The complex offers residents vibrant communal gardens, a community area, landscaping, interactive play areas, administration offices and basement parking all located close to transport, schools, healthcare and the shops.
Property Council of Australia’s Queensland Executive Director Jess Caire said The Salvation Army’s Chermside development showcased the best of Queensland’s affordable housing sector.
“It has never been more important to boost the supply of affordable homes to market and the Salvos have done just that in Chermside,” Ms Caire said.
“This is a worthy accolade for such an innovative development –The Salvation Army should be commended for their innovative approach to delivering affordable housing solutions’,” she said.
