The Queensland Government has introduced legislation to Parliament to reinstate the Queensland’s Productivity Commission (QPC).
The Bill has been referred to the committee process and the Property Council will work with members to provide feedback, with a final committee report due back to Parliament by 31 January 2025.
The QPC’s first order of business will be undertaking a review into Queensland’s building and construction industry, including the Best Practice Industry Conditions, which have been paused pending the review.
The QPC is expected to deliver a report on the review by mid- 2025.
The reinstatement of the QPC was a key advocacy ask for the Property Council in the lead up to the state election and we welcome the move as a crucial step in ensuring we remain competitive and productive to deliver on the needs of Queenslanders.
