Last Wednesday, Queensland’s Minister for Housing, the Honourable Meaghan Scanlon, announced the government’s plan to buy more houses built under the National Rental Affordability Scheme before they leave the scheme in the middle of 2025.
The government plans to work with community housing providers and individual owners to purchase some of the 4,841 homes left under the scheme.
It’s not clear how many of the remaining NRAS houses will be purchased, the government has previously partnered with community housing providers to purchase 456 houses set to exit the scheme.
