Parliament passed new property laws this week

The Queensland Government has this week established mandatory disclosure rules with the passing of the Property Law Bill on Wednesday.

Seeking to modernise the Property Law Act, the new legislation will bring into effect a new seller disclosure scheme, once in effect it will be mandatory for sellers to provide a disclosure statement along with any relevant prescribed certificates.

The modernised laws also include provisions dealing with issues and rights between neighbouring land, as well as clarifying powers of mortgagees and protections for mortgagors.

Information on submissions made to government on the changes can be found here, more information on the modernised laws can be found here.
