New Deputy Mayor

Cr Fiona Cunningham was announced as Brisbane’s New Deputy Mayor on Friday 31 January.

Cr Cunningham has represented Coorparoo Ward since 2019 and her appointment as Deputy Mayor follows Cr Krista Adams stepping down from the role.

Cr Adams’ previous portfolio responsibilities will be absorbed by other Councillors.

The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games responsibilities will be absorbed by the Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and City Planning Chair Adam Allan will take on the Economic Development and Nighttime Economy responsibilities.

New State Planner

Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie announced Peta Harwood as Queensland’s new state planner on Friday 24 January.

Ms Harwood has held previous roles with Brisbane City Council where she led the first Local Government Infrastructure Plan in Queensland and oversaw the 2014 new planning scheme, including detailed engagement with the community and innovative mapping tools.

The Property Council congratulates both the newly announced Deputy Mayor and State Planner on their appointments and looks forward to working with them on the challenges and opportunities facing Queensland’s property sector.
