
In the last fortnight more Councils including Townsville, Moreton Bay, Logan, Ipswich and the Redlands have handed down budgets for 2024-25.
Highlights from the five Council budgets are below.
Townsville
Townsville City Council’s 2024-25 Budget includes:
- A 5.1 per cent average rate and utility rise
- A discount of 5 per cent will be available to owner-occupiers when rates are paid by the due date, reduced from previous 10 per cent
- $328 million capital investment to deliver services and infrastructure
- $135.7 million for road repairs, construction and maintenance on more than 1,800km of road network as well as footpaths, bridges, bus stops and bike lanes
- $588.6 million for maintaining community assets including water, wastewater, road networks, bridges, foothpaths, drains and waste management
- $397.4 million for maintenance of more than 2,700km of water pipes and more than 1,400km of wastewater pipes across the city.

Moreton Bay
The 2024-25 City of Moreton Bay Budget includes:
- There will be a rate increase for owner-occupied houses of 4.9 per cent
- After applying a $50 financial relief rebate and accounting for all utilities and special charges the average total rate rise for owner-occupied residential property will be 3.8 per cent
- $51.6 million for 253 road rehabilitation and resurfacing projects
- $88.5 million for road and transport networks
- $80.1 million for waste management
- $29.6 million for waterways and coastal areas

Ipswich
Ipswich City Council’s 2024-25 Budget includes:
- There will be an average general rate increase for residential properties of 5.45 per cent
- The standard commercial rate will increase by 5.45 per cent
- Early payments of rates will receive a discount of $132 per year
- $89 million for asset rehabilitation including flood rehabilitation
- $39 million for strategic transport projects
- $22 million for Nicholas Street – Ipswich Central Redevelopment
- $62.4 million to maintain, upgrade and expand the road network

Logan
Logan City Council’s 2024-25 Budget includes:
- There will be a bottom-line rate increase of 4.61 per cent for residential 1 properties
- $135 million for road and drainage capital works, including major projects on Teviot Road, Chambers Flat Road and Loganlea Road as well as drainage upgrades in Eagleby and Rochedale South
- $1.8 million over the next two years to fund a rapid-response road pavement repair team
- $56.4 million for waste management
- $410.5 million for water and sewerage services

The Redlands
The 2024-25 Redland City Council Budget includes:
- There will be a rate rise of 5.51 per cent
- $31.86 million for water, waste and wastewater projects
- $29.57 million for road reseal, reconstruction and upgrade projects
- $23 million for infrastructure projects including transport, buildings and stormwater
- $7.14 for capital works projects
