Legislation establishing an independent delivery authority was passed this week.

The state government has passed legislation to establish the Games Venue and Legacy Delivery Authority.

Passed by Parliament this week, the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Amendment Bill 2024 paves the way for establishing the independent authority, with an interim CEO to be appointed in the coming weeks.

Recruitment of up to seven independent directors is expected to commence shortly, with the directors to be selected by the CEOs of the nine Games Delivery Partners.

The independent authority will be tasked with procurement for the new and upgraded venues, delivering a Games coordination Plan and a Transport and Mobility Strategy, which will be in place within 18 months.
