On Monday 27 May, the government announced that outgoing Sunshine Coast Council CEO Emma Thomas will start as the interim CEO of the Games Venue and Legacy Delivery Authority on 1 July.Â
The announcement of Ms Thomas as interim CEO follows the passing of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Amendment Bill 2024 in the most recent sitting week which saw the independent delivery authority established in law.
Ms Thomas will serve as the interim CEO until a permanent CEO is appointed.
The process to recruit seven independent directors has commenced, the independent directors will then appoint a permanent CEO for the delivery authority.
