Debbie McNamara has been appointed as the CEO of Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) following a selection process led by the chair of the EDQ Board.
Joining EDQ in August 2021 Debbie led the organisation as General Manager until the passing of the Economic Development and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2024 earlier this year which saw EDQ undergo changes to its corporate structure.
Debbie began her career in funds management before moving into property management in the United Kingdom where she spent 20 years leading various urban renewal projects.
Upon returning to Australia, Debbie joined Queensland’s Department of Health in 2016 as Herston Quarter Development Director.
In May 2024 Debbie received a Judges Commendation at the Property Council’s inaugural Queensland People in Property Awards for the Industry Impact Award sponsored by The University of Queensland.
