The Woolloongabba Priority Development Area (PDA) Development Scheme and Public Realm Guideline came into effect on Friday 20 September 2024.
The Development scheme assists with planning, delivering, coordinating and controlling land development within the PDA.
Woolloongabba Priority Development Area is 106 hectares covering parts of Woolloongabba, Kangaroo Point, East Brisbane and South Brisbane.
The PDA has outlined it will deliver:
- Housing for 24,000 people (including social and affordable housing)
- Create 34,000 new jobs
- Facilitate major public transport investment in the area
- Enable greater planning cohesion
- Revitalise areas within the PDA.
The Woolloongabba PDA Development Scheme (called The Woolloongabba Plan) is the regulatory document which assists with planning, carrying out, promoting, coordinating and controlling land development within the PDA.
Further, Economic Development Queensland has advised that a draft development charges and offset plan (DCOP) is being prepared and public notification will commence in late 2024.
