The Property Council is proud to support The Wattlenest which supports Australian athletes on their journey to the Olympic and Paralympic Games by partnering with businesses wanting to deliver social impact and create a meaningful relationship between their employees and the community.

As Queensland prepares to host the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games it is vital to remember that for the athletes it is not just about the two weeks of the Games. Preparation for athletes can take decades of work and many athletes are not appropriately financially supported on their journey. Alarmingly over forty per cent of Australian professional athletes are living below the poverty line.

The Wattlenest aims to support these athletes by connecting them with businesses via networking opportunities. Over the last 12 months, the Wattlenest hosted 24 networking events Nation-wide reaching over 500 businesses and connecting over 100 athletes.

They now have a community with over 150 athletes across more than 40 sports and have distributed over $200,000 directly to athletes annually with aspirations to distribute up to two million each year leading into our 2032 home Games.
