The Property Council was delighted to announce the winner of the 2023 Peter Trathen Scholarship at the recent Keeping up with Coast lunch on the Gold Coast.
Sarah Ledingham – a Griffith University student was announced as the winner and is intending to pursue a career in Real Estate.
Sarah described the scholarship as “a once in a lifetime opportunity which will provide me access to valuable information and connections within the property industry. I am especially thankful to Mark Burow and the Property Council of Australia for making this possible.”
The Peter Trathen Scholarship was established to pay tribute to the contribution Peter Trathen made to the property industry and Gold Coast business community. Peter moved to the Coast in 1993 from his native South Africa, working for Jupiters to develop the Brisbane casino.
In 2000, he took the lead role in the development of the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Peter was a strong advocate of education and continuing professional development. He actively encouraged young people to seek and develop careers in the property industry. Peter lost his private battle with the most virulent strain of skin cancer, melanoma, on 12 July 2010.
This scholarship provides an undergraduate student who has achieved outstanding results in the field of real estate property development within the Griffith Business School access to $5,000 worth of Property Council membership, events attendance, professional development courses and industry publications.
