The new bar and dining hall, dubbed The Guardsman, will complement SKYCITY Adelaide’s $330 million investment in the Adelaide Casino expansion, which spans two floors of the historic Railway Station building.

The Guardsman will feature a grand central bar, open kitchen, multiple dining and seating zones, a private room and shopfront opening onto the Railway concourse.

SKYCITY Adelaide will work with some of South Australia’s most well-known food and beverage producers will bring a strong local flavour to the venue.

Greg Stirling, general manager of marketing with Adelaide Casino, says the project is a “unique opportunity to develop a part of the railway station that has not been used for many years and create a place where stories can again be shared and made”.

Stirling hopes the project will “become a catalyst for further interest in the revitalisation of the Adelaide Railway Station”.

“Being on the Railway Station concourse, where 230,000 people pass through each week, gives us a unique opportunity to attract a wide range of customers including local commuters, people heading to Adelaide Oval and the Riverbank precinct and tourists,” Stirling adds.

The Guardsman will create 60 operational jobs when complete, adding to the 800 operational jobs created on completion of the casino’s expansion project in 2020.310719 - Project of the Week - Skycity Adelaide The Guardsman 3

Adelaide Railway Station is owned by Renewal SA. Matt Hunt, Renewal SA’s director of city projects, says the 1,000 sqm bar and restaurant “will make a major contribution towards transforming the station into a destination where people choose to start their journey, meet friends and make plans”.

The build will be undertaken by SHAPE Australia. Work is expected to be completed by November.

Construction on the 12-storey expansion of Adelaide Casino, which includes a luxury hotel, is scheduled for completion in 2020.
