Introducing… Leith Rees, Design Director, IA Design Perth
Three words to describe my job… Creative, challenging and rewarding.
When I explain my role to people outside the property industry, I say… I am a workplace interior designer. Imagine an empty building or floors or a floor in a building… we create a completed office space for our clients which includes everything – walls, ceilings, technology, furniture, finishes, fittings, all documented and considered within a contemporary design – which represents them and their business.
My three daily work essentials are… Great projects, colleagues and coffee.
The biggest lesson I’ve learnt in my role… Every problem has a solution.
My career motivation is… Creating beautiful, efficient, supportive workspaces for my clients and working with great people in the process.
My advice to others considering a career in my field… It’s demanding, varied, inspiring and much more technical than you would think!
The building or project that embodies what I do… So many great projects delivered over 20-plus years in design and all of them special for different reasons. I cannot choose – it would be like choosing a favourite child!
The inspirational quote I live by… Being happy doesn’t mean you have it all, it just means that you are grateful for all that you have.
This year I’ll be… Dreaming about overseas travel.
