Reflecting and renewing

As our fiftieth anniversary year draws to a close, it’s an opportunity to reflect on what’s been achieved and what lies ahead for the New Year.

We’ve been through a federal election campaign as well as an election in our biggest state. We’ve campaigned strongly against regressive land tax changes. We’ve won some positive tax concessions and advocated for better planning outcomes for our cities and regions, matched by the right investments in infrastructure.

During some challenging times we’ve been champions for those in our industry committed to quality in our built environment and campaigned for governments to step up their enforcement and compliance of our building regulations. We’ve continued to show the way to a low carbon future for our built environment.

Our commitment to strengthening diversity in our industry is lived every day through our committees, speakers’ panels and events, and initiatives such as Future Directions, 500 Women in Property and Girls in Property. All of these programs support a stronger, smarter and more successful Australian property industry.

Our members have been at the heart of every action and outcome this year. Whether it’s coming to an industry briefing or networking session, our inaugural Future Cities event, the Property Congress or the Retirement Living Summit, joining a study tour, or sharing insights and expertise through our national and divisional councils and committees, our members continue to be our greatest strength.

Our offices will be closed from Christmas Eve and re-open on 2 January. We look forward to renewing our advocacy on your behalf next year. Please enjoy a safe and restful Christmas and New Year break.
