Stockland makes senior hires, including Dexus CFO Alison Harrop, former CEO of Aspen Group Clem Salwin and Lendlease’s Jeheon Son and Ben Christie. Enzo Evangelista joins Colliers in WA and Duo Projects promotes key staff.
Mirvac has continued to strengthen its executive following the appointment of Courtenay Smith in March, with former Stockland general manager stakeholder engagement Amy Menere joining the leadership team in September. Menere succeeds Bay Warburton as head of stakeholder relations. Warburton is now with Hammond Care as general manager of home care.
Stockland has made a series of senior hires. Alison Harrop has joined the company as chief financial officer, following her resignation as CFO of Dexus Property Group last month. Harrop spent six years with Dexus and before that held senior roles with Macquarie Bank, Australia Post and Westpac. She joins Stockland early next year and replaces Tiernan O’Rourke, who has moved to Worley Limited as CFO. Emma Burke has been promoted into the new deputy CFO role.
Dexus has appointed Keir Barnes as its new chief financial officer, replacing Alison Harrop, after serving more than two years in the role of deputy CFO. Barnes is an established senior finance leader, overseeing financial operations, performance, planning and analysis, valuations, tax, transactions and reporting.
After 11 years as Lendlease apartments’ boss, Ben Christie, moves to Stockland as executive general manager for apartments, reporting into group executive and CEO of Communities, Andrew Whitson. Jeheon Son also joins Stockland from Lendlease as general manager for mixed use.
Reporting to chief people and stakeholder engagement officer Karen Lonergan, AGL’s former general manager of communications, Elizabeth Rex, takes on the role of general manager stakeholder engagement. Llew Gartrell, most recently Stockland’s senior manager of government relations, has been promoted to the new general manager of government relations role. Announced last month, Clem Salwin is taking on the role of head of retirement living in the new year. He was CEO of listed property group Aspen for three years.
Jennifer Cunich has been appointed chair of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) following the departure of former board chair Adrian Harrington, who new governs the National Housing Finance and Investment Corporation and is Charter Hall’s head of capital and product development. Cunich was the former Victorian executive director of the Property Council and was CEO of the Australian Institute of Architects for several years. Cunich’s appointment coincides with Alexandra Waldren’s appointment to AHURI’s board as independent director. Waldren is chair of Livable Housing Australia and national director of industry policy at Master Builders Australia.
Charter Hall’s former office CEO, Adrian Taylor, has joined investment manager Centennial Property Group as CEO and group managing director. Taylor will lead Centennial’s restructure, working alongside founders Jon Wolf and Lyle Hammerschlag, and with Paul Ford who established the group’s industrial and logistics business. Taylor was responsible for Australia’s largest commercial office portfolio at Charter Hall, with around $20 billion of assets under management. Centennial has around $1.1 billion of funds under management across logistics, office, retail, childcare and property lending. The group also has a pipeline of projects worth more than $1 billion.
Enzo Evangelista has joined Colliers in WA as director of valuations and advisory services, bringing with him more than two decades of experience across senior positions at Herron Todd White, Knight Frank London, Westpac, BP, Mirvac, Stanton Hillier Parker and the Western Australian Valuer General’s Office. Evangelista moves across from Builtform Real Estate Advisory, where he held the role of director providing advisory services to the state and local government, developers and private investors.
International engineering, design and advisory company Aurecon has announced that Paul Gleeson, its managing director for energy, resources and water, will also take on the new role of group director sustainability. The additional role will see Gleeson supporting Aurecon’s sustainability and climate change strategy, growing Aurecon’s climate transition risk services business and managing corporate sustainability transparency.
Duo Projects has made three new appointments with the promotions of Justin Hede as associate, and Odelia Chow and Luke Fantoma as project managers. Hede brings hands-on experience building bespoke architecturally-designed homes and concurrently project managing multiple builds. He has worked on complex stadium project including for the MCG and Kardinia Park, and the iconic Collins Arch mixed-use development. Chow has worked with tier one contractors on commercial, hospital, façade recladding and residential apartment projects. She is currently working on stage five of the Kardinia Park stadium redevelopment. Fantoma has played an integral role in the recent delivery of the Next Melbourne Hotel, as part of the 80 Collins precinct. He is also managing Ikon Park redevelopment, among others.
Sue Robinson is the new technical director social planning and sustainability for civil engineering firm GHD. Robinson has spent the last four-plus years as associate director of sustainability, planning and development for Transport for NSW.
Transgrid has a new sustainability manager: Shauna Coffey. The sustainability specialist led Mirvac’s green efforts in the late 2000s before taking on a directorship at Deloitte. Coffey was also head of projects at the Energy Efficiency Council and has also worked with IAG.
Scott Butterworth, currently chief financial officer at Slater & Gordon, will join digital property exchange platform PEXA as its new chief data and analytics officer. Butterworth brings more than 25 years to the role, having served at Boston Consulting Group, National Australia Bank, Westpac and Clydesdale Bank. While at Slater & Gordon, Butterworth championed a range of digital and data-driven initiatives.
