Dr Mary Stewart takes the reins as president of the Energy Efficiency Council as Professor Tony Arnel steps down after six years guiding Australia’s peak body for energy efficiency, energy management and demand response. Arnel, a former chair of the Green Building Council of Australia and World Green Building Council, oversaw the EEC at a time of significant growth. Stewart is CEO of energy and climate risk advisory firm Energetics. The 10-member board recently achieved gender parity for the first time since its establishment in 2009.
Julie-Anne Mizzi has joined Plenary Group to launch a new funds management business in Australia. Mizzi was with AMP Capital for 16 years, most recently as global head of social care with responsibility for the global growth of the health infrastructure portfolio and AMP Capital’s community infrastructure fund. Plenary develops, invests in and manages assets worth $44 billion in Australia, Canada and the US.
Zoe Baker is joining the NABERS team as a sector lead. As program manager for CitySwitch at the City of Sydney, Baker led the development of several successful ‘plug-and-play’ behaviour change resources for building owners and managers. Baker follows former colleague Esther Bailey, who left the City of Sydney after eight years leading transformation projects like the Better Building Partnership and CitySwitch Green Office program in 2019 to join NABERS as head of market development. Altogether Group, an amalgamation of Flow Systems, Flow Utilities and Meter2Cash Solutions, has unveiled a new brand to reflect its sustainable water, power and data services. CEO Terry Leckie says the name change reflects the maturity of Altogether Group as a “multi-utility” serving communities across Queensland and New South Wales. Altogether Group provides electricity, gas, hot water and potable water embedded network services to more than 25,000 customers.
QIC managing director of business development Chris O’Connor has finished up after six years with the investment fund manager. Before joining QIC, O’Connor was head of sales for Eze Software’s operations in Asia Pacific.
After a decade with AMP Capital and AMP, Debbie Alliston is retiring later this year. Alliston held several senior investment roles including chief investment officer for AMP Capital’s multi-asset group. Anna Shelley is stepping into Alliston’s shoes as the new chief investment officer for AMP Australia.
Nina James is Blackstone’s new managing director and head of ESG for Asia Pacific. James joined Investa Property Group in 2013 as the national sustainability manager and was promoted to general manager for corporate sustainability in 2015, and again promoted in 2019 to general manager for responsible investment. James will partner with the global head of real estate ESG, Eric Duchon, to build out Blackstone’s Asia-based capabilities in asset management.
