Greater Sydney Commission appoints Meg McDonald and Natalie Walker as environment and social commissioners, GHDWoodhead grows its placemaking team with Anne Sutherland, and Dexus hires Hamish Stuart.
The Greater Sydney Commission has announced the team who will lead the thinking and planning for Greater Sydney for the next four years. This includes the appointments of Meg McDonald and Natalie Walker, as environment and social commissioners respectively. McDonald was previously chief operating officer of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and CEO of Low Carbon Australia. Walker was founder and managing director of Inside Policy and was the CEO of Supply Nation. Chief commission Geoff Roberts AM, who has served in the role since in April 2020, said the pair’s “focus on the social and environmental needs of Greater Sydney will be vital in ensuring our plans make our eastern, central and western cities even greater places to live”. Deborah Dearing and Peter Poulet will continue to serve as district commissioners, alongside Western City district commissioner Elizabeth Dibbs. Recruitment of a new economic commissioner is underway, following the resignation of Jackie Taranto for personal reasons.
GHDWoodhead grows its placemaking focus with the appointment of Anne Sutherland as director of urban design based in Sydney. Sutherland has held senior roles at Transport for NSW working on projects such as the Wynyard and Central Station precincts, Sydney Light Rail, Sydney Metro and the major roads of Western Parkland City. She also has extensive experience on design of large scale residential and mixed-use development and policy following senior urban design roles at Landcom, Lendlease and in consultancy.
Demi Carigliano and Anthony Pirrottina have been promoted to joint heads of Knight Frank’s South Sydney office, having been elevated from their current roles as associate directors of investment sales. The pair will replace Nick Sinclair, associate director of leasing, who was filling in the role temporarily following Mark Silva’s move to Western Sydney last year. The dynamic duo – who are also cousins – have worked closely together after joining Knight Frank Australia as analysts in the capital markets just weeks apart in 2014.
Dexus has hired Hamish Stuart as general manager for development leasing, following four years as AMP’s head of leasing, office and industrial. Stuart has nearly two decades of experience in roles across the full investment lifecycle covering all major asset classes throughout Australia, the Middle East, South East Asia, and Africa.
Clare Parry has moved on from HIP V. HYPE, taking on a role with Development Victoria as sustainability manager. Parry is a trained mechanical engineer who has worked in building services companies and operated her own Passivhaus design firm.
APP Group has entered a strategic partnership with infrastructure consulting business Infrastructure Nation. With offices in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne, Infrastructure Nation is currently working with Transport for NSW for Sydney Metro and on the Western Sydney Airport project. APP’s acquisition boosts the group to 500 consultants. Infrastructure Nation will continue to operate independently of APP, with CEO Richard Stewart at the helm. In other news, APP has promoted Andrew Bennet and Rob Nievergelt to the APP executive team. The duo will lead APP’s infrastructure division.
Stephanie Macourt has joined JLL’s Queensland office leasing team as leasing executive. Macourt support JLL head of office leasing in Queensland, James Montague, and the team in brokerage deals in Brisbane’s CBD. Macourt has come from a commercial agency background in Sydney, most reently working in Sydney city fringe leasing and sales.
