Over 700 members of the property industry will be undertaking a fitness challenge with the Property Industry Foundation to raise money for homeless youth across Melbourne and Sydney.
For its 15th year, the Sydney Tour de PIF heads back to its roots – Terrey Hills and Sydney’s cycling heartland, the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park on Friday 13 September and will also take place in Melbourne on 15 November.
More distances on offer than before, this year, teams have the ability to make a tangible impact on youth homelessness.
Property Council’s Head of Technology and Digital Craig Horton will be taking part this year and said he is excited to raise funds.
“I’m excited to share that I’m participating in the Tour de PIF 2024 cycling fundraiser to support a cause that’s close to my heart,” Mr Horton said.
“This year, I’ve joined the challenge to ride and raise funds for those in need through the PIF (Property Industry Foundation).
“The journey ahead is tough, but with your support, we can make a significant impact. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly towards helping young people who are at risk of homelessness.
“Together, we can pedal towards a brighter future for many young Australians. Thank you for your support and encouragement!”
It comes after 185 property and construction professionals participated in the Property Industry Foundation’s Pedal for Homeless Youth event in Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall last Thursday.
Participants turned pedals in a 20-minute sprint on stationary bikes, transforming their efforts into crucial funds. The money raised will support Haven Projects like Haven House Kingaroy and Haven House Logan, providing 13 bedrooms for youths and mothers with children to rebuild their lives.
Antoinette Rusby-Perera, Property Industry Foundation QLD State Manager, said, “It was great to see so many teams come down for such an important mission. Every night nearly 10,000 young Queenslanders do not have safe places to lay their heads. Their experiences will have lasting effects on their lives.”
