i2C Architects has announced its expansion on the east coast through an amalgamation with Brisbane-based TRG Queensland, Stephen Carroll and Nathan Atkins join AVID Property Group’s growing team, Sir Rod Eddington AO takes the reins at Infrastructure Partnerships Australia, Sigrid Zialcita is appointed CEO at APREA and two new Deputy Commissioners have been appointed at the ABCC.

Architecture and design firm, i2C Architects has announced its expansion on the east coast through an amalgamation with Brisbane-based TRG Queensland. The i2C Architects team will grow to over 100 members across its four locations in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. TRG Queensland Managing Director, Rod Rose, will become a third director at i2C Architects, alongside Anthony Merlin and Brian Jende (pictured above).

AVID Property Group has appointed two property specialists to join its growing Sydney-based team. Stephen Carroll, previously at PDS Group, joins AVID as apartment development manager, after having managed $815-million worth of significant projects across Australia. Former development advisor and property consultant Nathan Atkins – formerly with Charter Keck Cramer – also joins AVID as an assistant development manager. Both will be responsible for driving AVID’s new project in Surry Hills, The Rathbone.

Adrian Kloeden steps down as chair of Infrastructure Partnerships Australia, as Sir Rod Eddington AO takes the reins at the think tank and independent policy research body. Eddington, a trained engineer, began his career in transport and aviation before leading Cathay Pacific, Ansett Airlines and British Airways. The change over of the board will occur in May.

The Asia Pacific Real Estate Association (APREA) has announced Sigrid Zialcita will assume the role of CEO for the Singapore-based regional industry body from January. She was previously Managing Director, Asia Pacific Research at Cushman and Wakefield and is a recognized expert and industry spokesperson on global economic, public policy and real estate issues. She is replacing outgoing CEO Peter Verwer who took on the role in 2014 following his period as Property Council chief executive.

Two new Deputy Commissioners have been appointed to the Australian Building and Construction Commission (ABCC). Jill Jepson has been Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the ABCC since 2017 and was previously Head of Corporate Services and CFO at Roy Morgan Research Limited. Matthew Kelleher is currently Special Counsel at Clayton Utz and has previously worked as a lawyer and Senior Associate at the firm in building and construction law, including advising and acting for the ABCC. Both appointments are for five year terms.

Integrated design practice GHDWoodhead welcomes Paul de Podolinsky as director of architecture in Victoria. With experience at Y2Architecture, Gray Puksand and Cactus Architects, de Podolinsky has worked on Deakin University’s Centre for Advanced Design in Engineering Training, Monash University’s Law Faculty Refurbishment Masterplan, and Federation University’s Manufacturing Engineering Skills Centre and Federation College.

Bates Smart has appointed a new advisory board of prominent Australian business leaders: John O’Neill AO, chairman of The Star Entertainment Group; Fiona Hindmarsh, non-executive director of Hindmarsh; Julie Levis, partner of Clayton Utz; Greg Paramor AO, non-executive director of Charter Hall Group; and Colin Smith, managing director of Phoenix Consulting. The architectural firm has also appointed three new leaders: directors Kellie Payne and Cian Davis, and studio director Rachael McCarthy.

Architectus has launched a Perth studio, led by managing principal Mark Mitcheson-Low. With key senior hires already underway, the Perth studio is expected to grow to a team of around 30 people.

Domain’s chief sales officer Tom Ainsworth is moving on, with a restructure to split the business into two arms: business-to-business and business-to-consumer. Former chief product and customer experience officer Tony Blamey has been promoted to chief commercial officer. Domain is looking for a chief consumer officer to place Melina Cruickshank who recently took a new role with REA Group.
