Grocon’s Christian Grahame steps into Roger Teale’s shoes as president of the Property Council in Victoria. Colliers hires flexible workplace specialist Sami Schiavi and Architectus appoints principal, Alan J. Duffy.

Meanwhile, Scott Nugent, AMP Capital’s divisional development manager, has been appointed president for the Property Council in WA. Nugent, who will be supported by Mirvac’s Paige Walker and Hawaiian’s Richard Kilbane, takes over from Tanya Trevisan, COO of Iris Residential and executive director of Tribis. Nugent has been a divisional councillor with the Property Council for six years, and has previously worked for Macquarie Bank, Lendlease and Hong Kong’s largest Real Estate Investment Trust, The Link REIT.
Travis Doherty, Chief Executive Officer of the Village Building Company, has been elected as President of the ACT Division. He brings 25 years experience in executive leadership positions across a range of industries, including property development and construction, financial services, manufacturing and professional services. He takes up the role from outgoing president, George Katheklakis from KDN Group. Arabella Rohde, senior development manager at Lendlease Development, and Phil O’Brien from Amalgamated Property Group were elected as vice-presidents.
Colliers International has hired a flexible workspace specialist – the only such role to exist within a major agency in Australia. Sami Schiavi has joined the Colliers’ office leasing team, based in the Sydney CBD. She has extensive experience in the UK market, where flexible workspace now sits at around five per cent of available stock and is expected to climb to 30 per cent in the next five years. Schiavi says Australia is still in the early stages of flexible working – accounting for 2.3 per cent of stock available –but is following the London market to become a favoured choice of workspace for tenants.
Architectus has a new principal: Alan J. Duffy (pictured at top). Joining the firm from Woods Bagot, Duffy is an expert in the design of education and learning of projects. He has recently worked on projects for the universities of Western Sydney, Macquarie and Sydney. Duffy’s appointment follows 12 months of continued growth at Architectus with recent significant project wins including the Western Sydney Airport Business Park Master Plan and Melbourne Airport Rail Link.
Asha Kerr is LJ Hooker’s new business growth manager in New South Wales. Kerr, who moves across from Ray White, will work with LJ Hooker business owners to achieve growth targets and build relationships.
Ray White Victoria and Tasmania has appointed Matthew Condon as chief auctioneer. Condon was previously Ray White Group’s national skills trainer with responsibility for educating agents on successful sales and auction methods.
