Piper Alderman has nabbed Walker Corporation’s Margot King to head up real estate in Sydney. Jon Lesquereux joins Equiem from AMP Capital. Janelle Hopkins moves to REA Group and Architectus boosts its team.

350x350 People on the moveLegal firm Piper Alderman continues to expand its real estate team with the appointment of Margot King as its new head of real estate for Sydney. King joins Piper Alderman from Walker Corporation where she was project legal counsel for the Parramatta Square Project. King also previously acted for Lendlease on Barangaroo South and other projects.

AMP Capital’s Jon Lesquereux has joined proptech company Equiem as regional head for the Asia Pacific. Lesquereux, who was most recently AMP Capital’s head of office in its investment management division for nearly four years, will lead Equiem’s expansion into Singapore. Lesquereux has been in the property industry for more than 25 years, including with Colonial First State Global Asset Management, Kiwi Income Property Trust and Knight Frank.

Janelle Hopkins joins REA Group as its new chief financial officer. Hopkins replaces Owen Wilson who stepped into the role of CEO after Tracey Fellows moved up the senior managerial ranks at News Corp. Hopkins was previously the chief financial officer at Australia Post.

Planning and environment lawyer Grant Long has joined the Nexus Law Group as a specialist group principal. Long has almost 20 years’ experience in the profession, and has worked on large-scale residential and commercial developments, planning and environment litigation.

Senior associates Alf Seeling and Ken Anderson, join managing principal Mark Mitcheson-Low and design architect Paul Jones in Architectus’ recently-opened Perth studio. David Andrew, John Hayball and Olaf Detering join the Melbourne studio as senior associates, along with five associates across Melbourne and Sydney. The appointments strengthen the practices capability to service national clients across the transport, commercial, education, residential and public sectors, along with interior design and urban design and planning services.

010519 - People on the Move - Alex JeffreySavills Investment Management has appointed Alex Jeffrey as its new CEO. He will join the firm in late 2019 and will be based in Singapore. Jeffrey was previously head of Asia Pacific for M&G Investments. Savills Investment Management has offices around the world, including in Sydney, and manages real estate worth around $30 billion.

Alan Frost joins 151 Property as its new head of residential. Frost has more than 30 years’ experience in real estate and a strong background in residential and major projects.
