Retail construction specialist Mainbrace has appointed Peter Armstrong as its new general manager in Victoria. Armstrong has held a string of high-profile positions within the public and private sectors over the last 25 years. He led Invest Australia, the Victorian Government’s investment facilitation agency, and oversaw Places Victoria (now Development Victoria). He led the ASX-listed Redcape Property Fund, a $1.2 billion AREIT in the leisure, hospitality and retail sector and held senior executive roles with Coles, Target, Officeworks and Coles Liquor. Armstrong takes the reins of the Mainbrace business in Victoria from Michael Fague, who heads back to Sydney to form part of the Mainbrace NSW team. Over the last 30 years, Mainbrace has built a $2 billion-plus track record of retail projects nationally.
JLL has announced a new national retail investments team structure, and senior directors Jacob Swan and Sam Hatcher have been promoted to lead the business. The national team will include dedicated retail investment specialists in Sydney, Melbourne (Stuart Taylor and Tom Noonan) and Brisbane. Hatcher will be based in Sydney and Swan will divide his time between Brisbane and Sydney. They officially start in the new roles on 1 August. Swan and Hatcher have worked together at JLL for 14 years, heading up QLD retail investments, achieving a market share of nearly 70 per cent over the past decade.
David Corke has been appointed director in charge of CBRE’s Gold Coast office following a realignment of leadership roles. Corke’s promotion follows Jonathan O’Brien’s appointment as Queensland regional director for capital markets. Corke has two decades of property experience under his belt, including 12 years with CBRE’s Gold Coast office during which time he’s built up local expertise in industrial and logistics.
Multi‐disciplinary design practice Hames Sharley has appointed three new senior leaders across its practice. Harold Perks, retail and town centre portfolio leader, takes on the role of director in Melbourne, while Derek Hays is national design forum leader in Perth. In Adelaide, studio leader Leon Gouws has been elevated to senior associate.
Knight Frank has expanded its prestige residential sales team, with the addition of two agents. Adam Ross joins the team after leading his own boutique brand Belgravia Private. He was previously an associate director with Savills in its prestige property section, and will take on the role of associate director. Oliver Stillman moves across from Sotheby’s International Realty as sales executive.
