Mainbrace welcomes property industry stalwart Richard Horne to the team, Turner & Townsend appoints two infrastructure specialists, CommtechAsia launches a new brand and IA Design makes three key appointments.
Retail construction specialist Mainbrace welcomes property industry stalwart and large format retail pioneer Richard Horne to its team as a non-executive director. Horne has spent the last three decades at the forefront of the property industry in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. After moving to Australia in 1996, he spent 15 years at CBRE where he developed the company’s retail capability as national head of retail, before becoming senior managing director of CBRE’S New Zealand business for five years. After returning to Australia, Horne spent more than eight years as NSW managing director and head of retail at Knight Frank. Horne has been a key member of the Property Council’s NSW division and currently sits on the board of advisors for the Property Industry Foundation.
Global professional services company Turner & Townsend has appointed Simon Routledge and Alan King, as the company strengthens its infrastructure offering in the region. As head of aviation for ANZ, Routledge has managed teams delivering large scale civil engineering and utility projects for both the public and private sectors across the UK and the Middle East. His most recent project was Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai. King, who steps into the role as head of infrastructure major programs ANZ, has delivered significant billion-dollar projects and programs, 
including projects of national significance such as the UK’s Inland Rail.
Independent commissioning management consultancy Commtech Asia has launched a new brand identity and services division, Integrated Project Solutions. Led by founder and group managing director Andy Knellar, Commtech Asia now offers project and construction management for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire, and extra low voltage.
Interior design and architectural consultancy IA Design has made three appointments. Sydney studio director Susie Bryden brings to her new role extensive experience in bespoke and authentic design solutions. Interior designer Emeshe Varga has national and international experience in corporate workplace, health, education and hospitality clients. And key account director Renee Opperman has more than 20 years in client relationships management, new business development, marketing and communications.
After a year-long search, the City of Parramatta has a new chief executive officer: Brett Newman. During his six years as CEO of Property NSW, Newman built an organisation with more than $5 billion of assets under management and a project pipeline of over $10 billion. Newman, who has previously held roles with Westpac and Stockland, will lead the council as substantial investment in property and infrastructure reshape the city.
Michael Barlow joins CBRE as regional director of facilities management and government for Australia and New Zealand. Based in Canberra, Barlow has previously held key roles including director at Broadspectrum Property, national director with JLL, general manager ACT for Five D Holdings and property director at multiple government agencies.
Knight Frank Australia expands its prestige residential presence in Sydney as senior sales executive William Laing joins the team. Laing has moved from The Agency in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, where he was a property partner.
Survey and spatial information company MNG has appointed Braith McClure to head up its east coast office in Melbourne. McClure will replace interim general manager Rob Kiernan, who returns to the Perth headquarters as group manager responsible for business development. McClure moves to MNG after six years with AAM.
Quantity surveying and construction specialist Mitchell Brandtman has promoted Matthew Kritzler to the position of director. Kritzler, who joined the firm as an associate three years ago, will head up the firm’s infrastructure division. Kritzler has worked on major rail projects, urban renewal, remediation, infrastructure and more.
Arcadis welcomes Jacqui Banks as city executive based in Melbourne. An experienced leader in urban renewal, design and delivery, Banks played a leading role in the planning and development of Fishermans Bend. She has also previously worked as an advisor to a Victorian minister for planning.
