Industry stalwart Phil Wilkinson moves on after 18 years with AIRAH, former Standards Australia chief Dr Bronwyn Evans will lead Engineers Australia, and Matthew King takes on the top job at URPS.
Phil Wilkinson is moving on after almost 18 years with AIRAH, the Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Airconditioning and Heating. Wilkinson has resident to seek “new opportunities in more people-oriented roles”. During his tenure Wilkinson held several key positions including CEO and was most recently as executive general manager of technical services and government relations. Wilkinson’s last day with AIRAH is Friday, 13 September 2019.
Dr Bronwyn Evans is Engineers Australia’s new chief executive officer. An electrical engineer, Evans was most recently CEO of Standards Australia, and has also held senior executive roles at Cochlear Ltd and GE Healthcare. Evans replaces Peter McIntyre, who after two years in the top job moves to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as its new CEO.
Meanwhile, Standards Australia has promoted its deputy chief executive officer to the top job. Adrian O’Connell has been with the organisation for 13 years and has been acting in the role since Dr Bronwyn Evans departed in March.
Integrated architecture and design practice Plus Architecture has appointed Sumedh Kataria to the role
of lead architect, project manager and design manager. Kataria has nearly two decades’ construction industry experience in the USA, India and Australia, most recently as a principal of GroupGSA.
Former CEO of the City of Parramatta, Greg Dyer, has been appointed CEO of the Sydney Fish Market. Dyer succeeds outgoing general manager Bryan Skepper who retires in September following four decades with the organisation. Dyer instigated the city-defining $2 billion Parramatta Square urban renewal project.
Susan Stephens is investLogan’s new head of finance. The independent property development and investment company that is 100 per cent owned by the Logan City Council.
Urban and regional planner URPS has a new managing director. Matthew King takes on the top job after nearly seven years as a director with the firm. After 10 years as managing director, Marcus Rolfe will remain a director as a key part of the firm’s management team. Lucas Paterno has also been appointed director of URPS Melbourne. Paterno joined the firm in early 2018, and has since facilitated planning approvals throughout Victoria.
Managing, engineering and development consultancy Mott MacDonald continues to grow its team as Brendon Baker joins as technical director. Baker was most recently director of project development for Sydney Metro, and spent four years with Transport NSW.
Data and analytics company CoreLogic has appointed Ryan Dinsdale as executive sales, marketing and customer operations for Australia and New Zealand. Dinsdale joins the CoreLogic international executive team, reporting to CEO international Lisa Claes. Dinsdale was most recently CEO of Purplebricks, and has held executive roles at CommSec, Virgin Money, Telstra and Westpac.
Nick Foa will lead the new authority overseeing Victoria’s biggest transport project. As CEO of the Suburban Rail Loop Authority, Foa will be responsible for a project connecting every metropolitan train line from Cheltenham to Werribee. Foa was most recently deputy secretary of Victoria’s department of housing, infrastructure, sport and recreation.
John Roydhouse, CEO of the NSW division of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia, is moving on after 12 years with the organisation.
Engineering firm WSP has promoted Matthew Salisbury to its national education business for the property and buildings sector. Salisbury has been with WSP for 15 years, most recently as manager of its South Australian office.
HDR, a global engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services firm with 10,000 employees in 225 locations, has five new directors, five associate directors and nine associates. New directors include Alan Boswell, Catherine Loker, Graeme Spencer, Ralph Williams, and Tina Turrisi. Together, they have worked across major defence, workplace, mixed-use, justice, education, science and health projects, including the current Westmead Precinct Redevelopment, Ed.Square at Edmondson Park, and Western Sydney University Bankstown Campus projects. New associate directors at the global design firm are Elisa Nakano, Francesca Fava, Graham Reynolds, Rashi Prashar and Sam Faigen. And recognising emerging talent, the firm promoted: Amy Papas, Cathal McLogan, Chris Murray, Howard Liu, Jeremy Graham, Romina Triboli Pisi, Rowena Sequeira, Sonni Jeong and Vanessa Zakrzewski.
JLL has appointed a new director, rural property specialist Clayton Smith. Joining the agency from Elders, Smith has notched up more than 250 transactions during his career spanning southern Queensland and northern NSW. Smith is based in JLL’s Brisbane office.
