AMP Capital has a new fund management team, led by Tom Green. Lark Industries, Duo Projects and m3property have bolstered their teams. And we have plenty of Australia Day honours share.
AMP Capital has appointed a new fund management team for the AMP Capital Diversified Property Fund. This move follows the appointment of outgoing fund manager, Brett Williams, as AMP Capital’s managing director of retail. Assistant fund manager Tom Green has been promoted to fund manager, with Andrew Jeffs the new deputy fund manager. Before joining AMP Capital in 2017, Green held roles at Colliers International and Lendlease. Jeffs joins AMP Capital after a stint as head of retail operations for Lendlease’s investment management division.
Lark Industries, a supplier of outdoor and indoor play and exercise equipment, has appointed Ashley Walker as senior business development manager for South Australia and Western Australia. Walker has worked on projects including Elizabeth Quay, the Perth Arena, Cathedral Square and the Perth City Library.
Duo Projects has promoted Katherine Strain and Jarvis Mellor to senior project manager. Strain is currently working on the delivery of Swanston Central residential development, the W Hotel Melbourne and the Next Story Hotel Melbourne. Mellor is currently working with Carlton Football Club on the redevelopment of Ikon Park and overseeing the delivery of La Trobe University’s new mass timber project.
Stephen Linnane has joined national independent valuer and advisor m3property in its Brisbane office. Linnane, who returns to the firm after several years as a valuer at Jones Lang LaSalle, lists government institutions, major banks and top-level private companies among his clients.
GHD has acquired Movement Strategies, a UK company that provides crowd dynamics and privacy-compliant analytics of movement data. The move adds 35 new team members to the global headcount of more than 10,000 and strengthens GHD’s digital services.
Scott Nash has joined 151 Property as its new general manager for technology. Nash has led technology projects for Healius Limited and PwC.
After six-and-half years, JLL’s Victorian managing director David Bowden will step down from the role in February. Bowden, who has been with JLL since 1981, will shift his focus back to Melbourne’s office markets, as director across sales and leasing within JLL. Craig Shute has been appointed the new managing director for JLL in Victoria. Shute joins JLL from Colliers International, where was national director of capital markets, based in Adelaide. He was formerly managing director of CBRE’s businesses in Hong Kong, Las Vegas, San Diego and Adelaide.
CBRE has new leaders in its North Sydney and Western Sydney offices. Rachel Vincent has been appointed managing director of CBRE’s North Sydney office. Vincent commenced her property career with CBRE in 1997, moving back to the firm in 2016 as director of advisory and transaction services. Michael O’Neill, with 14 years of service to CBRE under his belt, will step permanently into the Western Sydney managing director role after serving as interim leader for the past six months.
Meanwhile, Stuart McCann joins CBRE as its new head of international capital for the Pacific and Southeast Asia. McCann was most recently JLL’s head of international capital in Australia, transacting more than $15 billion of real estate across major asset classes. McCann will be based in Singapore. And Nic Purdue has joined CBRE’s ACT team as its new director of capital markets. Purdue joins CBRE from Savills, where he was the Canberra director of commercial sales.
Colliers International has expanded its hotels transaction team in the Sydney CBD, with the appointment of Mina Li as associate director. Li was based in Hong Kong for more than 10 years and, more recently, in Melbourne for the past two years.
WMK’s Brisbane studio has been bolstered with the arrival of David Percival as director of projects. Percival has worked in both Australia and the UK, most recently with GroupGSA, on multi-residential, education, hotel, hospitality and aged care projects. Long-standing WMK team member Laurie Day has retired after 13 years with the firm.
Knight Frank has appointed Shaun Witherow as its new head of Queensland, a role he has been acting in since October. Witherow was previously Knight Frank Queensland’s head of asset management services. As part of the restructure of Knight Frank in Queensland, Justin Bond has been appointed head of capital markets in the state.
Knight Frank is also expanding its commercial team in New South Wales – both in investment sales and office leasing. Three new appointments have been made, with the investment sales team taking on Andrew Harford as executive and Jessen O’Sullivan as associate Director, while Euan Matheson is head of office leasing for Sydney North. Harford and O’Sullivan moved to Knight Frank from JLL. Matheson has moved to Knight Frank from Colliers International.
Sean Gill is a recent addition to the team at architecture practice Gray Puksand in its Brisbane studio. Gill has portfolio strengths in retail, mixed-use and commercial projects. As an associate, Gill will lead project teams on current work and build new relationships.
The Australia Day Honours list includes long-term contributors to the property and construction industry. The late Dr Enrico Taglietti AO was honoured for his distinguished service to architecture, particularly in the ACT. He was awarded the Australian Institute of Architects’ Gold Medal in 2007.
Cathy Inglis AM was recognised for her significant industry service 25 years with Brickworks (formerly Boral and CSR). She is also a national director with the Housing Industry Association.
We also salute recipients Dyan Currie AM for significant service to town planning, the University of Sydney’s Professor Richard de Dear AM for his services to the design of the built environment, and Dr Geoffrey Boughton AM and Stephen Gilbert OAM for their service to engineering. Michael Scott AM, past president of the UDIA, was applauded for his service to urban development, while Queensland quantity survey Robert Wildermuth AM and respected WA builder Robert Torrance AM were acknowledged for their industry contributions.
