Gemma Wawn joins SMLXL Projects, Colin Roberts heads up sustainability at Scentre Group, Jamie Guerra will lead JLL’s industrial division and Knight Frank bolsters its capital markets team.
Gemma Wawn has joined construction firm SMLXL Projects as ACT general manager. Wawn most recently worked as a senior development manager for Shopping Centres Australasia. Prior to this she was with The GPT Group, working on the second stage of Rouse Hill Town Centre and a new town centre at Sydney Olympic Park.
Colin Roberts has joined Scentre Group to head up sustainability after Benjamine Duncan moved to University of Technology Sydney to lead its sustainability programs. Roberts joined the team late last year as national environmental manager, and spent a decade working for Caltex in mostly sustainability roles.
After 10 years as managing director for JLL’s South Australian business, Jamie Guerra has moved into the role of national head of JLL’s industrial agency division. Guerra has spent most of his 28-year career specialising in industrial sales, leasing and investments. In 2017, he transacted a major deal on behalf of SA’s Motor Accident Commission for $565 million. More recently, he brokered a $130 million deal of the Commercial and General industrial and logistics portfolio across SA and Victoria. Ben Parkinson, formerly of Savills, replaced Guerra as managing director for JLL in SA late last year.
Three promotions within Knight Frank’s capital markets team aim to fuel the company’s growth. Ben Schubert, former national head of capital markets, has been promoted to head of agency, responsible for national capital markets, leasing and industrial logistics teams. He will also join the agency’s board. Paul Roberts, previously head of institutional sales Australia, takes on Schubert’s former role. Scott Timbrell, Knight Frank’s head of investment sales for NSW, steps up as head of investment sales Australia.
The CBRE hotels investment and brokerage team in Queensland is expanding with the addition of negotiator Chloe Mason. Mason relocates from Perth, having spent the last five years working as part of the CBRE Hotels team in Western Australia. Recent sales include the Tambrey Tavern, Tavern @ The Rocks and Seasons Hotel Newman.
Colliers International has expanded its flexible workspace specialisation, with Jonathan Kearins joining the occupier services team in Sydney. Kearins has worked in varying leasing and tenant advisory roles, most recently as head of real estate for WeWork in Australia and New Zealand. Kearins says “non-traditional office space” now accounts for up to 40 per cent of the office footprint of some large users.
James Redwood has joined GHD as a technical director in Adelaide. In his previous role with construction firm Hansen Yuncken, Redwood helped deliver the $1.85 billion new Royal Adelaide Hospital project.
Goodman Group has appointed Stephen Johns as chairman elect to succeed Ian Ferrier at its November annual general meeting. Johns was appointed to the board in 2017. He is currently chairman of Brambles Limited but will be stepping down from that role during the year. Ferrier, who has been on the board since 2003, was appointed chairman in July 2009.
The International Living Future Institute has named Paolo Bevilacqua vice-chair of its board of directors. Bevilacqua is general manager of Real Utilities, the carbon neutral energy retailer and utilities business wholly owned by Frasers Property Australia. He is also chair of the Living Future Institute Australia. International Living Future Institute has also appointed a new board chair, Anthony Guerrero, chief real estate and sustainability officer at the Natural Resources Defense Council. The group is seeking a new CEO after Amanda Sturgeon stepped down this week.
The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects has a new chief executive officer. Ben Stockwin was previously CEO of the Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia for nine years and replaces Tim Arnold. Stockwin, who commences in April, will be focused on advocacy, raising the Institute’s membership profile, and engaging with allied organisations.
