Cushman & Wakefield announced the internal appointment of Guy Bennett as Managing Director, CRE Australia & New Zealand. The intention is for Mr Bennett to permanently relocate to Sydney over the course of the year.

He has taken over from Simon Fenn who has chosen to do what he loves best and move back into the transactional side of the business as National Director – Industrial & Logistics Capital Markets, NSW, after having successfully grown the Commercial Real Estate business in Australia and New Zealand over the past two years.

Mr Bennet has 23 years’ experience in commercial real estate, having worked in London, Sydney and Adelaide on both the client and advisory side.

He has won the Property Council of Australia’s ‘Property Person of the Year’ award having sold over $5bn of institutional grade assets in South Australia. 

Meredith Riley has been appointed to MinterEllison’s Australian partnership within the Infrastructure, Construction and Projects business. She has worked on some of the largest road and rail projects in Australia as well as other significant complex Australian infrastructure projects and joins from Ashurst and is based in Sydney.

Australian Unity has announced the appointment of Michael McGavigan as Executive General Manager—Operations for its Wealth & Capital Markets platform.

Mr McGavigan joined Australian Unity on 6 February 2023 from Vanguard where he was the Global Head of Investment Management Solution Delivery.

Charter Keck Cramer has further strengthened its Research & Strategy services in their Sydney office with the elevation of Brendan Woolley to Director – Research & Strategy.

He has circa 25 years’ experience working across major development advisory, property market research and valuation engagements for corporate, institutional and government clients within various real estate sectors.

Colliers announced the appointment of two new members to the Retail Capital & Middle Markets team, with Harry Dever joining as an Associate Director, QLD and Ben Wilkinson joining as Manager, NSW.

They will work in the National Retail Middle Markets team, led by James Wilson, Head of Retail Middle Markets.

Mr Dever will be based in Queensland where he was previously Director in Charge of the Colliers Queensland Retail Leasing business with a focus on Neighbourhood Shopping Centres, Large Format Centres and Healthcare assets

Mr Wilkinson will be based in Sydney, building on his strong background as Colliers Manager of Retail Leasing Projects.

MaxCap Group announced three new appointments to its’ Australian and New Zealand team.

Greg Scott has been appointed an Associate Director Investment based in Perth. He joins from Commonwealth Bank’s Property Finance team.

Angus Simpson will join MaxCap New Zealand as an Associate Director, Investment. He brings more than 12 years’ of experience to MaxCap, most recently as an Assistant Portfolio Manager for ANZ Wholesale Property Securities Fund.

Anna Kaur is joining MaxCap’s Capital team as an Associate. She joins from a Toronto-based consultancy, ESG Global Advisors.

Knight Frank, and Berkadia, and joint venture of Berkshire Hathaway and Jefferies Financial Group, have announced their new alliance to develop and provide capital markets services to multi-market clients globally.

The alliance will be guided by an Alliance Management Board, which will meet quarterly and include senior executives from both organisations, including Neil Brookes, Knight Frank’s Global Head of Capital Markets, and Keith Misner, Berkadia’s Co-Head of Investment Sales. The alliance will also establish an on-the-ground Knight Frank presence in the United States via a secondment, as well as a Berkadia presence in Knight Frank’s London headquarters.

Qualitas has announced the appointment of Fiona Reynolds as Chair of the Qualitas ESG Advisory Group.  

Ms Reynolds was formerly Chief Executive of the Principles for Responsible Investment between 2012 and 2021, an UN-supported network of investors representing USD $121 trillion in assets under management and is currently Chair of the UN Global Compact Network Australia which seeks to mobilise Australia’s leading businesses to create a sustainable future.

Carr announced Richard Beel’s elevation to associate director. Mr Beel holds 19 years’ of architectural experience.

Savills Australia & New Zealand has appointed Stephen Bolton as Director in its Victorian Retail Investments team.

With over 25 years’ experience in commercial property, Stephen joins Savills from Gill Property where he was owner and partner.

Grace Lauder has moved into a new role at Hawaiian as the Perth Marketing Executive (Brand).
