A new Executive General manager of retail in Australia at Ampol, CBRE creates a new role, JLL expands its South Australian team while Frasers Property Australia announces a new General Manager Development in NSW.
Ampol has announced the hiring of Kate Thomson as Executive General Manager, Retail Australia.
Thomson has been with Ampol since 2019 in roles such as General Manager, Retail Operations, and Head of Retail Excellence, and has successfully guided the company through a period of substantial development. She formerly held significant positions at prominent consumer brands, including General Manager, Mobile Lending at ANZ Banking Group, and several operational roles at McDonald’s Australia.
Thomson’s hiring follows the resignation of Joanne Taylor, who will join Compass Group as Managing Director after six years with Ampol.
CBRE has hired Andrew Purdon to the newly formed Pacific job of Regional Director – Living Sectors, Capital Markets, to lead the firm’s service offering in the rapidly developing build-to-rent (BTR), purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), and co-living sectors.
Purdon has over ten years of experience in CBRE’s UK Development and Residential Capital Markets unit, most recently as the UK Head of Co-Living Transactions.
Purdon will be located in the Sydney office in his new Pacific role, where he will construct a specialised Pacific Capital Markets team to provide development and investment advice to landowners, developers, and investors at all phases of the project lifecycle.
Martin James has returned to JLL, being hired as Head of Industrial & Logistics in Adelaide, reporting to Ben Parkinson, JLL’s Managing Director (South Australia).
He most recently worked for the national investment firm Centennial Property Group, where he oversaw the industrial investment portfolios throughout Victoria and South Australia. He was previously an Associate Director in the industrial team in JLL’s Adelaide.
James was formerly the Head of Property Development at Adelaide and Parafield Airports, where he worked on projects with Mitsubishi Motors, Oz Minerals, and Australian Clinical Labs, with an emphasis on commercial and industrial estate development, feasibility, and master planning.
Cameron Jackson has been named General Manager Development NSW by Frasers Property Australia.
Jackson, a highly experienced Development Director who has been a member of the Frasers Property team for over 20 years, has been involved in the design and implementation of numerous major projects including Fairwater at Blacktown, Tailor’s Walk at Botany, and Midtown MacPark.
Jackson succeeds industry veteran Nigel Edgar who managed Frasers Property’s development efforts in New South Wales for the past 12 years, and has previously held a range of other responsibilities within the company throughout Australia. Edgar will take on a new job as General Manager National Development, where he will work on a variety of projects and initiatives of broad relevance, where his vast business expertise will be put to use.
John Mowat, the head of UBS Asset Management’s Australian real estate unit, has been promoted.
Mowat will retain his current position while also taking on a new one as UBS Asset Management’s head of Asia Pacific real estate.
